Tour Madness  September 1986 - LONDON: Radio: Roundtable
Suggs appears on 'Roundtable' (aired September 6th) to tell Janice Long that Madness are to disband. The decision is a shock for Suggs himself, and admits that not all members are informed yet as some of them are planning to continue in a smaller line-up. He continues to compare the split with a near-death experience where one's life flashes by like a forwardly-winded movie with various images of all phases. Although the band get on very well, Suggs confesses that group's relations were challenged after Mike's departure. "I'm surprised that we didn't split up the day we met". As for the near future, Madness will release a final single, but there are no plans for a farewell-concert (In the last-ever MIS fan club nutty boy comic Chris explains that it will not take place in case it evolves into an extensive farewell-tour). Closing off the interview, Janice airs The Prince as a reminder of the good old days. The radio-broadcast of 'Roundtable' snowballs a stream of 'Madness Split' items the same day and in weeks to come. Although the decision was made shortly after the penultimate issue came out, MIS-subscribers are amazed and apalled that they're informed about the split by other sources than the fan club as was promised.
